In life, we all seek "secret places" where the soul can be alone and at rest. It's the idea of finding sanctuary-- a quiet place where life's stresses and pressures fade away. Where time moves differently. Where beauty restores our minds. Where we are sheltered under God's wing.
We access secret places through art, long walks, dancing, reading, and prayer. It's the feeling of finding a meadow and laying down in its grasses, breathing in its flowers. It's finding a rhythm of prayer and grace.
For this styled shoot, we found a secret place tucked away in the canyon, off the beaten path. The shoot was all about the process of surrendering to creativity in the moment. I foraged wild grape vine and juniper, and created an arrangement from mostly what I had picked. As we finished the shoot, the moon blossomed, a pale flower in the sky, and a hush fell over our secret, sacred scene.
