Event florals inspired by one of my favorite places, the otherworldly Lotusland. I began my floral career, essentially, at a workshop held at Lotusland; the garden will always evoke such special memories— such a sense of awe over nature and the expressive potential of florals. A marvel of palms, ferns, agave, cycads, and euphorbia, Lotusland looks and feels like another world. It is an entrancing place. Much of the intrigue is derived from garden’s founder, Madame Ganna Walska, a Polish opera singer and huge personality (beautiful, notorious, rich, and married six times; the kind of person with enough money & élan to support the world’s biggest cactus habit). Each garden displays Walska’s theatrical personality and serious collectorship; Lotusland is home to only the biggest and most unusual plants. In the midst of all of this is a Spanish style hacienda, seemingly overtaken by euphorbia. It is vast and surreal place; I think about it all the time. I love that I got to channel the Lotusland vibe through these event florals.
